Interior Design Central Coast

Along with the mix of suburbs right on the coast or further inland, the homes on the Central Coast range from large contemporary residences to weatherboard cottages and beach houses and traditional brick veneer homes, each with their unique interior design and character.

As with the architectural mix of homes, there are a range of interior schemes that suit. One of the most popular interior design and decorating styles on the coast right now is the Hamptons-inspired look.

Hamptons Inspired Homes

This classic coastal style adopted from the popular holiday destination of Long Island New York, is ever popular in Australia. Whether you do Hamptons on a grand scale with a formal look (made famous in the TV series Revenge and the movie Something’s Gotta Give) or on a smaller and more casual scale, there are some key guidelines to achieving the look.

A neutral furnishings palette is complemented by pops of colour, pattern and texture in the fabrics, velvet occasional chairs and limited-edition rug. An antique mirrored and black metal coffee table nest adds to the luxe look.

Interior schemes typically include board and batten detailing, shaker style profile cabinetry, wallpaper, window seats and feature staircases. The Hamptons colour scheme teams plenty of crisp white with black accents and neutrals like grey, cream and beige, with pops of colour such as duck egg blue, navy, soft greens and teal. Colours that reflect the sand, sea and great outdoors.

Custom upholstered stools, glass pendant lights, a pressed metal splashback and a butlers sink add the Hamptons touch to this timeless kitchen design

The interior finishes palette typically includes timber, sisal rugs, wicker and layers of natural textures such as jute, linen and rattan. Lighting is always a feature from large scale pendants to wall sconces and a mix of floor and table lamps.

Wall sconces, a statement mirror and mantle painted in crisp white, help create a focal point of this fireplace.
Formal dining spaces are typical of grand Hamptons homes with solid timber tables and upholstered chairs. Statement lamps and a large artwork add interest above the custom painted sideboard.

Formal living and dining spaces team solid timber furniture with different upholstered furniture from sofas with a white piping detail, to wing back chairs along with metal, marble and glass accents. A fireplace is often the centre point of a living room with a tall traditional mantle.
