Our Vaucluse Project is a stunning example of how interior design and interior decoration can transform a home into a serene and functional sanctuary. It brought a truly unique challenge and opportunity: designing a home for a Japan-based couple with two young children that blended their love of Japandi style with the breezy charm of coastal design. Their Vaucluse property already had a solid structure and thoughtful layout, but the interiors needed a complete refresh to align with their vision.
With two young children in the mix, practicality was as essential as beauty. Every aspect of the design was carefully considered to ensure durability and functionality without compromising on aesthetics. The project required a collaborative effort with our skilled trades to refurbish the entire living spaces to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
One of the standout elements of this project was the creation of a custom-built sofa, crafted from an existing banquette. Designed with both form and function in mind, this feature used Polytec products to ensure a sleek and durable finish that aligned with the home’s overall style. This bespoke piece became the centrepiece of the informal living area, embodying the seamless blend of styling and practicality.
The clients’ love for the clean lines and natural elements of Japandi style inspired much of the design. We incorporated organic shapes, natural materials, and soft, muted tones such as cream and beige, paired with textures like wood and marble.
To compliment this, elements of coastal design were added, creating a breezy, relaxed feel that reflected the home’s stunning location and connection to nature. The living spaces were designed to emphasise the indoor-outdoor lifestyle, with the deck leading to the swimming pool becoming a central feature of the home. Coffee cart from Coco Republics
The main bedroom was inspired by the beautiful outlook, the space was designed with soft blue hues and natural linen, reflecting the calm and tranquil aesthetic found in the rest of the house while adding a touch of understated luxury. This retreat strikes a perfect balance between relaxation and elegance, with textures and colours that enhance the natural light and serenity of the space. A connected study adds functionality, making the room versatile and ideal for moments of focus or quiet reflection.
For the children’s bedrooms, the design took a playful approach while staying consistent with the home’s overall palette. Neutral tones were adapted with plenty of texture to create cozy, inviting spaces that were perfect for both rest and play. Layered textiles, soft rugs, and durable finishes made the rooms as practical as they were stylish, ensuring they could grow with the children over time.
As the project developed, the scope was extended to include a renovation of the existing kitchen and the landscaping of outdoor areas. This ensured the home’s design felt cohesive both inside and out, enhancing its connection to nature while elevating its overall aesthetic.
Our Vaucluse Project showcases how thoughtful interior design, renovations, and styling can completely transform a property. By blending the simplicity of Japandi style with the relaxed charm of coastal design, we created a home that is not only visually stunning but also perfectly suited for family life.
Custom features like the built-in sofa, natural materials, and muted tones come together to create a space that is both functional and elegant. Whether it’s the tranquil bedrooms or the open living spaces, every detail has been designed to make the most of the home’s beautiful setting and aspect.
